Wednesday night’s Round 2 action kicked off with a big win for the Southern Seahawks over Kardinia Spartans. The 24 Goals victory by the Seahawks continues their impressive form and look to be real title contenders against league leaders the Bayside Braves.
The Braves also looked impressive with a 26 goal win against the Northern Titans. Lead in attack by U19 guns, Nathan Begley and Brayden Pastore, the Braves consolidated the possession offered by a tough defensive line to keep the Titans to a nine goal half time score. The last quarter saw the injection of Guy Keane for the Braves into the unfamiliar position of GS, however the last quarter belonged to the Titans who will take some good momentum into next week’s matches.
Western Thunder turned around a horror start last week to come up 54-41 victors against Eastside Saints. With the return of young Goalers Jayden Cowling and Brodie Roberts, Thunder were able to ensure they capitalised on all turnover opportunities. Adding plenty of defensive support was the return of Sam Owen and helped by young mid-courter Daniel Rooney who will continue to improve over the coming season.
Northern Bullets also continued their impressive start after defeating Doncaster & Districts 47 – 28. The height of Trent Williams helped as Doncaster found it hard to stop the scoring capability. Whilst defensive pressure from Steve Chambers, Tim Malmo and Luke Marco Rawlings proved to be to strong for Doncaster to penetrate.
Western Ice got off to a flying start in their match with NSEW Falcons to rush out to a 30-15 lead at half time assisted by the big leap and defensive pressure of Leigh Redding at Goal Defence. The return of Opens Midcourter Ash Chapman provided plenty of run through the middle as Falcons stayed with the Icemen for the last half who ran out eventual winners 60-42.
Round 3 sees Western Ice looking to end Northern Bullets  impressive start as Either Saints or Spartans will look to get the first win on the board. The Seahawks will be wanting to continue to build on their impressive start against Doncaster as will Bayside Braves against Falcons. Finally Thunder will look to capitalise on last week’s performance taking on the winless Titans
