For the upcoming 2022 AGM we have received the below nominations. The AGM will take place at 11am on Sunday December 11 at the State Netball Centre, Parkville.

Vice President – Craig Moore:

Hi everyone, my name is Craig Moore.

I have been a part of VMMNA for the last 22 years where I have covered most roles, including; player, team manager, umpire, coach, vice president and M-League co-ordinator. I was also recently awarded with life membership which I value very much.

I am very passionate about this sport we all love and have loved seeing how male participation grows year by year. Junior M-League is increasing it’s numbers weekly and this year we have had the largest number of team entries for seniors. An initiative I have really focused on was bringing this all together on one night. This has been a success with positive feedback coming from many people involved.

Although there is always going to be improvements required, I hope to continue to build a platform for males to play netball and give them every opportunity possible.

I am the current Vice President and M-League coordinator of VMMNA, and love to have a chat with all involved. Please feel free to contact me with any enquiries you may have, I will always make time for you (in between all the fixture updates of course).

Secretary – Sue Owen

Hello my name is Sue Owen and I have been the VMMNA Secretary for the past 4 years. I currently work with Netball Victoria (past 5 years) in Member Services.

I currently assist with the MLeague competition on a Wednesday night and I am very passionate about increasing male participation.

Thank you

Sue Owen

Committee – Sonya Febbo

In case you have missed my hundreds of emails (or you are new to VMMNA) – my name is Sonya Febbo and I am the current Tour Manager. I’ve been apart of the VMMNA community for several years now and a committee member since 2019.

During my time as Tour Manager I’ve had to navigate a global pandemic, resulting in 2 cancelled nationals. Seeing everyone on court in Adelaide earlier this year was truly special after the 2 heart breaking years we experienced.

I’ve been able to build on relationships with Netball Victoria, the Melbourne Vixens, the Collingwood Magpies and Netball WA, with some exciting things coming- so watch this space!

It’s been a big year for the committee. A new website, new uniforms and the appointment of our new Head Coach Gerard Murphy. We have seen mens netball gain traction within the sporting world and I can’t wait to see where we as Victorian athletes go from here.

Committee – Maddie Noble

For those who don’t know me – I’m Maddie Noble and I’ve recently been appointed uniform coordinator.

I’ve been around the the VMMNA community for a number of years now. I’ve been a team manager and in more recent times, I’ve worked closely with Sonya on uniforms and various other things.

Mens netball is continually going from strength to strength and my goal is to assist in any way I can.

VMMNA has such a wonderful community and I want to be apart of its future success.

Committee – Michael Davis

Thank you for considering my nomination for the VMMNA committee. I have been on the committee for the past 4-5 years where I have overseen the creation and use of the JotForms that everyone has been using, these include selection trial nomination, presentation night, Fast&Furious nominations, etc.

I have been involved with VMMNA since 2012 only missing a year due to having a knee reconstruction. My involvement includes playing in the 17&under and 20&under teams, being on the VMMNA committee and for the last 6 years been the trainer for the 17&under team.

I’ve always been passionate about the juniors and it’s great to see how far we have come with junior participation, especially with how much junior M-League has grown and has become a premier competition for boys in Victoria. This is a true testament to the VMMNA committee of past especially the hard and tireless work of Craig Moore.

As with everything there is still more to be done. If I am fortunate enough to be selected on the VMMNA committee once again I would like to see us increase our offering to juniors. With ideas of expanding junior M-League even further. We have talked about offering a net-set-go for young boys to start their netball journey earlier, I would like to see us make this a reality. I would also like to see what more we could offer in regional Victoria whether this is specialty clinics, hosting mini tournaments etc.

After the recent incredible success of the Australian and New Zealand Men’s test series we are in the best possible position to grow. We need to keep the momentum going and do everything we can to support the growth of Men’s netball in Victoria.

Thank you for you considering my nomination for the VMMNA committee.

Regards

Michael

Committee – Adam Franz

My name is Adam Franz, I’m 26 years old and was on the VMMNA committee this past year. This will be my 6th year as a player at VMMNA, having started in U/20s in 2016 and progressing through the pathway to the Mens Reserve side, which I was the vice-captain of last Nationals. Outside of netball I work as a consultant in the pharmaceuticals industry and am completing my Master of Public Health part time. This past year has been a big learning curve understanding the ins and outs of VMMNA and figuring out where I want to see change. I feel I have more to offer, particularly with the knowledge I have gained this past year. My personal goals are to create a welcoming and enjoyable culture at VMMNA where everyone feels valued and a part of the community. Additionally, I want to continue the growth we have seen in the boys and mens netball space in recent years, particularly in terms of outreach and strengthening pathways and playing opportunities.

Committee – Josh Schultz

I have been involved in VMMNA for almost 10 years now and particularly early on, I was not fully aware of the role the committee. More recently, I have developed an appreciation for the work and dedication of the Committee through my work with Sonya. I have been involved in behind the scenes work over the last few years and feel that it is time to contribute in a more formal capacity to the VMMNA Committee. I’m passionate about ensuring that we as a Committee are continuing to strive for excellence and providing our members with opportunities in an elite environment.

Thanks

Josh

Committee – Jake Noonan

I’ve been fortunate enough to be on the VMMNA committee for 12 months now. In that time, we’ve been able to establish a Players Representative Committee. This committee has successfully hosted several social events, while continually creating a safe space for all members to feel welcome and apart of the VMMNA community.

As a committee – we’ve had a big year! A new uniform has been designed and rolled out, M league has grown in size and a new website is coming soon.

A personal favourite for me has been “Netty Talks with Noons”. Simon Cartwright has been instrumental in the success of Netty Talks and for those asking – season 2 is coming soon!

My goal is to keep being a voice for VMMNA athletes and continue to assist in the growth and success of Mens and Mixed Netball in Victoria.

Thanks,

Jake
